BOLD portfolio companies are taking the future of beauty to the global stage, including Zuvi, the Chinese startup specialized in manufacturing beauty tech devices.

January has been quite a month for the startup as they took their next-generation hair dryer, AirLight Pro by L’Oreal Professionnel worldwide, from CES Las Vegas to L’Oréal’s CES headquarters (HQ).

AWARD-WINNING

First, L’Oréal Professionnel and Zuvi unveiled AirLight Pro at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the global event dedicated to the tech  industry. There it received a 2024 CES Innovation Award, recognizing the  breakthrough technology behind the beauty device.

Leveraging the startup and the Group’s expertise, AirLight Pro dries faster, offers greater hair benefits, is eco-friendly and envisions a more inclusive future for  haircare. It combines infrared-light technology and wind, uses up to 31% 1 less energy compared to leading premium hair dryers and can be used across
multiple hair types. With its successful debut in the U.S., the innovation is set to launch on the market later this year.

TREAT YOURSELF WITH TECH

Next, it was on to Paris for Zuvi.

From January 15 to 19, BOLD took over L’Oréal’s CES headquarters’ high-traffic areas with physical and digital activations to showcase its portfolio of disruptive startups. On January 18, BOLD teamed up with L’Oréal Professionnel to treat Paris-based employees to a hair salon experience. CODEV hair talent, the stylists that supported L’Oréal Professionnel in developing AirLight Pro, offered hair styling treatments and highlighted the award-winning technology in action.

PAINT THE TOWN BOLD

During the takeover, other BOLD portfolio companies were featured throughout the corridor leading into the HQ’s canteen, which was adorned with banners highlighting startups from BOLD’s four investment verticals: Beauty Brands, Tech  for Beauty, Beauty Platforms and Science for Beauty. Portfolio companies To Summer, VLGE, Gjosa, Microphyt, Rembrand, Functionalab, Zuvi and To Summer welcomed our Paris colleagues.

BOLD’s takeover extended from the physical to the digital. Monitors in the headquarters featured rotating videos with a selection of our startups. The videos spotlighted their work, innovations and collaborations with L’Oréal, and – we hope – fueled further potential synergies.

STAY IN THE KNOW

The week-long takeover was a perfect illustration of the collaboration that is inherent to BOLD’s DNA: investing and partnering with innovative startups supporting L’Oréal’s purpose to “create the beauty that moves the world” Follow BOLD on LinkedIn to stay up to date with the latest news from BOLD, the startups and what’s fueling the future of our industry.
